I cannot express how lucky I am to have found Mary Catherine McCarthy. I did a simple Google search for "designers near me". I saw several lovely websites for some talented people in the Sea Girt area, but I connected with what I saw on the Mary Catherine McCarthy, LLC website. The photos that appealed to me were calm, serene, uncluttered. Finished but not overdone, not overly modern, but warm and inviting. This would be my first experience using a designer for furnishings, and I reached out. I knew I needed help to bring to my lifestyle a sense of sophistication and pulled togetherness, and creativity. We exchanged emails,
and phone calls, Mary Catherine is very responsive and accessible. We had a date, and upon our first meeting, she had
such insight into our home. Her thoughtful initial interview revealed a warm, bubbly, creative force. She made a very
professional yet personable first impression, by no means intimidating. My husband and I both found her very easy to talk to.
Her flexibility was demonstrated in her design approach, reassuring us she would be willing to help us with the smallest to
the largest projects. Mary Catherine later presented us with her evaluation, and made such amazing, insightful improvements
in our home with just a couple of pendant lanterns and a small swatch of carpet. We knew we were on the right track and
had found the right designer to work with. We love her creativity and intuition, it has been spot on. She guides us through
decisions, presenting edited options, of various price points, allowing our creativity, and budget, to shine as well. We started
out needing help with room flow; we ordered custom furniture; and just completed a full kitchen renovation plan to begin in January, and we cannot wait. With Mary Catherine McCarthy anything is possible, and it's fun and exciting and eye opening
along the way. Her passion for design is evident and inspiring. She is full service and has a relationship with so many worthy professionals in all aspects of design and construction, I am confident I'm in good hands. Our dreams of a fabulous home

We moved into Toll Brothers Sea Breeze community in Forked River in 2018. We had recently redecorated our previous NJ home of 35 years and wanted to preserve and hopefully repurpose our draperies. I also knew I’d want some help with window treatments for our new Farmington model home. We reached out to Toll and they recommended Mary Catherine, as she has worked with Toll and knew their models very well.
Mary Catherine came to our home in central Jersey and we loved her instantly! She was friendly, easy to talk to and very engaging. She scoped out our draperies – measurements and fabrics and arranged to have them taken down and stored while we were between homes. Knowing the Toll homes, she determined the new window sizes, and had the drapes altered (both in style and length) for our loft window and dining room bay windows. They were all ready for us when we were ready to move in!
We were thrilled with the drapes and asked Mary Catherine for window treatment help. She designed, fabricated and installed the window treatments for the whole house – shades, blinds, and additional drapes and valences for windows where needed. All the while being very cost conscious, and extremely respectful of our “budget”. And she will work with what you currently have, making it all look like new! Believe me, Mary Catherine has a contact for everything!!! We needed bedding for our master bedroom and one of the guest rooms where we wanted to do something special – she found it – including the decorative pillows to match!
Well – you can’t decorate a new home without painting the walls – and so she helped us select colors for each room, including the tray and coffered ceilings. She had an uncanny knack for sensing our taste, and knowing our fabrics, was able to creatively give our new home that “professional designer” look, keeping it warm and cozy and welcoming. Then, she recommended her master painter/carpenter to do the work at a price no one could beat!
And so, our relationship with Mary Catherine has continued over these three years, as she recently found us an upholsterer to re-stuff our sofa cushions and pillows and added remote control blinds to our very high (20 ft) windows in our great room. We love them!
So yes, indeed, you have found a real treasure in Mary Catherine! We can’t recommend her highly enough.

We have used MCM2Design for several projects, the largest of which was a major renovation of our Queen Anne Victorian in Ocean Grove. Mary Catharine is fun to work with, creative, and uses capable vendors for special items such as textiles and tile work. She is generally punctual, honest, and seems genuinely interested in providing service excellence. Attention is personal and she communicates well. It might not be the least expensive out there, but the service has usually been provided at a reasonable value considering the skill and level of attention we receive. It's especially valuable if you want to buy custom furniture, which saves lots of time and effort.
